The Day is Done!!
There was a great deal of setup before the Earthship Crew arrived. All of the tools and equipment need to be assembled and delivered to the Big Timber Site. Most important; the tires. After three or four longs days, the tires were organized and stacked awaiting the pounding they would receivebeing transformed from waste in a big hole to a fully and very functional wall of a home.
I viewed my self as skilled labor so I assembled items and tools and readied those items for the crew. On the last day, I found I had to throw tires along with the Tire crew of Monte, Doug & Linn. I was the new guy so they all took advantage.
Enjoy the Photos of the tire setup!

Big Timber, Montana:
There was an ill wind blowing from the south west that day. Everything had be secured, covered and tied down. Mother nature was determined to win. She usually does. The winds had picked up a great deal and were gusting at 40 miles an hour up the hill. We were securing the food service tent when a large gust came up and uprooted the mess tent from the stakes and it carried the tent in approx 10 flip tumbles across the prairie. Once the tent came to a rest, the damage was obvious. Two broken legs and one roof support. The main fabric was torn beyond repair. This was the tent that survived the mean cold winds in Rio Rancho New Mexico earlier in the season, but did not survive the rough and tumble winds of Big Timber, Montana.
This minor set back did not delay lunch in any way. However, there was dissapointment. No one caught the event on video so only a few of us got to say; "Auntie Em, it's a Twister!" Also so much for America;s Funniest Videos!
The Messy Tent. No one was injured and no food was lost!
Damage Inspection
Hi Mom, I need a new Tent!
The Earthship crew arrived and started to building Monte Doug's home. The were busy from the second they arrived and showed great progress each day. Here are a few shots, but click on the link above to see the complete job and find out more about the Earthship home. It is fascinating!

Proof that Monte actually worked! Go Grizz!

A little de-briefing at the end of the day

Big Pig BBQ packed up and ready to head west for Chili Days in Grants Pass Oregon

Packaging meat for upcoming lunches after Big Pig BBQ is on the road

Monte & Doug with their early morning bowl or cereal to start the day!

Monte was so thoughtful to put a cookie and protein bar on my pillow after his dog Linus rolled all over it with his dirty paws and coat. He rolled in the dirt just before he jumped on my bed!
