The Brentwood P.A.L. BBQ King Cookoff
Every Superbowl for the past 11 years there has been a BBQ Cookoff Fundraiser at Harvest Park Bowl in Brentwood. This helps keep programs important to the community going. Aside for the financial gain for the Brentwood P.A.L. & The East Contra Costa County Historical Society it is just great fun.
I have competed the past three years and had great fun every year. There is good natured ribbing (no pun intended) with fellow competitors, the snacks during the cookoff are incredible. Bill from Brentwood Fine Meats always brings Fresh Sausage for us to cook and hand out. That is always a treat. Of course each team has it's own special tasty treat. There are little smokies wrapped in bacon, shrimp wrapped in bacon, Bacon Candy, grilled oysters, different sausages and even some wild game. I hope you noticed the trend of Bacon. Bacon GOOD!
That was the competition side. The general public is invited to come out buy some taster tickets and sample until your pants don't fit. I always hear "I can't find good BBQ." Well they haven't come by and sampled the meats prepared by the the Kings of Brentwood. You will not get BBQ this good in a restaurant. So come on down this Superbowl Sunday and enjoy some of the best BBQ you will ever get, enjoy yourself at the bowl alley and if you want to see the Super Bowl there are enough TV screens broadcasting the game that you would not miss the game or the commericals.
I am going to start early. For Peoples Choice, Vote Big Pig BBQ and Vote Often! Hope to See you there!

thepress.net (Click for Info) 2012 The Super Bowl was decided and so was the the 11th Annual Brentwood PAL BBQ King Cookoff & Fundraiser.
There is a new King, Brentwood PAL made $5,000.00 and there will be even a bigger cookoff next year.
It was a good time. For several of the teams it was the start of the 2012 BBQ season and for a few it was their first contest. The weather was great, old friendships were rekindled and and new friends were made. The snacks prepared by the teams were incredible. Bill Harris from Brentwood Fine Meats brought out sausages to smoke and grill. Just cook'em and hand em out! Polish and Chorizo, fresh made sausgae is the best! Thansk Bill. There were Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, Little Smokies wrapped in Bacon and Bacon Candy! I was sensing a theme. And of course there were Pulled Pork Nachos. I almost forgot, there was Chili, Chicken, Baby Back Ribs and Tri Tip. Alot of happy and full people waddled in to the bowling Alley or their cars to watch the Super Bowl and rest up before they ate their BBQ Left Overs!
